1. How often can I perform micro needling?

The micro needle roller can be used every 2-4 weeks. 2 weeks is ideal especially when using the 0.5mm roller. Microneedling increases a group of enzymes called collegenease. These enzymes break down the old and misaligned collagen in the skin. After micro needling this group of enzymes continue to build up until they peak 2 weeks after treatment. It is preferable to wait until these levels have peaked and begun to subside before starting with another treatment to create more collagen. This treatment spacing is ideal when using a 0.5mm or 1.0mm micro needle anywhere on the body.

3. Can I use vitamin A when performing skin needling?

This is something we cannot recommend. Micro needling can naturally produce slightly dry, inflamed and photosensitive skin. Any retinol or vitamin A products can make these side effects a lot worse. In addition vitamin A can thin the skin which is something we are working hard against. You are much better off using the natural aftercare serums which combat this and also increase results

4. Do you recommend numbing cream?

If using a 0.5mm or 1.0mm roller then numbing creams are generally unnecessary anywhere on the body. 1.5mm rollers can be easily tolerated on the body but would require numbing cream if used not the face (something we do not recommend). A survey performed on a recent group of graduates from our skin needling courses showed that of the 70 students surveyed, 100% responded and 91% agreed that micro needling performed the White Lotus way was not painful.

5. What to expect following a treatment?

a. A feeling of tightness and warmth across the entire face or treatment area. b. Inflammation will last up to 24 hours if using a 0.5mm roller. c. Avoid direct sunlight for about a week after treatment. Wear 50+ sunscreen if spending time in the sun. d. Use the appropriate White Lotus aftercare serum during this time to reduce tenderness of the skin. e. Collagen production begins about 48 hours after treatment. It continues to increase for between 3-12 months. f. New collagen created will last for between 5-7 years.

6. Can I perform micro needling when pregnant or breast feeding?

Yes you can but it is best to perform dry micro needling or micro needling without any product application. This avoids the increased absorption of any products into your system during this sensitive stage.

7. How do I use the micro needle roller under the eyes?

Use the other hand not holding the roller to draw the skin down out of the eye socket. Once the skin is pulled across the bone below the eye you can roll across it in safety. Ignore any instructions you read that says you can roll into the eye socket. It is imply not worth the risk!

8. What is the ideal pressure to apply when rolling?

Light pressure is ideal. High quality sharp micro needles will pass effortlessly and painlessly through the skin without undue pressure. The ideal pressure will slightly depress the skin without pushing hard towards the bone below.

9. How do I clean my micro needle roller?

You can easily disinfect the roller but never sterilise it despite some claims. Disinfecting the roller will eliminate bacteria but the roller must still never be shared with another person. a. Run water over the roller under the tap. b. Spray the roller with the Lotus Roller cleaner containing colloidal silver to kill 99.99% of bacteria. c. Place the roller back in the case without letting it contact anything else. d. Respray the roller prior to the next treatment.

10. How do I use my jade roller?
